Opera GX, Opera’s dedicated gaming browser has hit the 4 million monthly active users(MAUs) milestone.

The browser was launched slightly over a year ago, at the E3 gaming convention, as a way to provide the PC gaming community with a dedicated solution for their browsing needs – contrary to the one-size-fits-all browsers.

Opera GX’s main pitch is the built-in RAM and CPU limiters as well as the gamer look, with sound effects and RGB lighting.

July was the best month for the browser ever, with 4 million active users, representing nearly a 150 per cent growth year-to-date. Opera says, the recorded growth has surpassed their expectations, but they’re still dedicated to making the browser even better for the gaming community.

Commemorating the new milestone, Opera also shared some insightful stats on the browser’s user community. A survey that covered nearly 200,00 Opera GX users released in July showed that most of them are hardcore gamers. Over 90 per cent play games over 3 hours a day while almost a third of the entire community game over 7 hours a day or more.

The company plans to reach more users in “the 1.2 billion global PC gamer universe” by building a dedicated fan community and creating more awareness through influencers in the gaming industry.
