Facebook Messenger is getting screensharing support on mobile – on Android and iOS. So the next time you’re on a video call with your buddy, you can actually share your screen.
Facebook first rolled out Screensharing on Messenger for web and desktop apps. On mobile, screen sharing works for one-on-one video calls, group video calls with up to eight people and up to 16 people in Rooms.
The company has a cool description of the practical use cases, that I couldn’t coin better myself: “Whether you want to share memories from your camera roll, shop together online, co-browse social media, and more — screen sharing makes it easy to stay connected and close with your loved ones, even when you’re physically apart,” Facebook said.
Soon you will be able to share your screen on Messenger Rooms with upto 50 people from the current 16. The company also plans to add ability to control who can share their screen in Rooms. The added controls will make it easy for Room creators to limit the ability to screen share – either just themselves or make the feature available to all participants – when creating a room and during the call.
Ensure you download the latest version of Messenger on Android and iOS to get the newly added screen sharing functionality. It’s also available on desktop app and Web.
