After several reports about LG ditching its G-series lineup of smartphones, the company has recently teased its new design language that will be featured in a new upcoming series.

“Our upcoming smartphone will draw on the rich history of classic LG designs which have always been distinctive at first touch,” said vice president Cha Yong-duk, head of LG’s Mobile Communications Design Lab.

“This handset will be a first-look at the competitive edge we will be bringing to every LG smartphone going forward,” he added.

The new minimalistic design “is a nod to the natural world with a visual form factor that differs from the industry trend.”

The new phones will sport a “Raindrop” camera which includes camera lenses arranged in a vertical order from the largest to the smallest, emulating falling raindrops.

In the shared design mockup, the phone has three rear cameras lenses followed by an LED flash arranged in descending order by size.

The primary camera sits inside a circular bump while the other lenses run flash with the back of the device which will be made from glass, according to the company.

Also, both the front and back of the device feature a 3D Arc design that delivers symmetrically curved edges that are less sharp.

The company has not provided a timeline on when we should expect to see smartphones with this design yet, nor whether the new phones will have a new naming system.
