Over the past few months, Spotify has been eyeing to make its platform a go-to platform for podcast lovers, on top of just music. The platform began selecting podcasts for users, bought a popular network of podcasts (The Ringer) and is now making it easy for users to get what a podcast is all about at a glance.

The new UI also makes it easy to discover new podcasts that you may love. The company has given podcasts more space on the app, which is now occupied by podcast show trailers – a brief introduction of the podcast and its creators.

Like Apple Podcasts, Spotify now includes the trailers at the top of the Podcast episodes, so it’s easier to preview what a podcast is about before you commit.

On top of that, the company has also added descriptive show categories under each podcast that spans on different topics like “relationships”, “true crime”, “travel”, “personal stories” and more.

On the podcast listening experience, nothing has been changed in the latest update. Nonetheless, the new changes give Spotify a more intuitive user interface for podcast listens and helps the platform catch up on more prominent podcast apps out there like Apple Podcasts.

Spotify’s continued investment in the podcast side of the app has seen the company increase podcast listening over time. According to the company’s Q4 financial revenue report, podcast listening jumped 200% from a year ago. The platform harbors over 700,000 podcasts and 16% of users do listen to podcasts.
