HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, launched two smartphones and two feature phones at Europe’s IFA trade show not so long ago. It was kind of unexpected not to see a successor to the Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 5.1, but the company seems to have other plans.

Reports about the Nokia 8.2 had surfaced earlier in July, suggesting that the device will feature a 32MP pop-up selfie camera. If the statements are true, the Nokia 8.2 will be HMD’s first smartphone to feature a motorized selfie camera.

The latest report by Nokia Powerhouse indicates that the phone might sport a 64 MP quad rear camera setup with Zeiss optics.  Under the hood, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 735 might be the main driver.

On the memory side, the Nokia 8.2 is said to come in three variants – 4 GB, 6 GB, and 8 GB RAM paired with either 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB ROM. Other specs include a USB Type C port and a 4000mAh battery.

Other previous leaks have suggested the phone having 5G capabilities and will be selling at around $500. In August, HMD suggested working on a cheaper 5G smartphone to be launched in 2020 at ‘half’ the price of what exists today (August 2019).

So, the Nokia 8.2 might be the mystery device the company was talking about.
