There is no doubt that my favourite smartphone for Ksh 25,000 at the moment is the Huawei Y9 2019. I have been using this smartphone for a few weeks now and I love it. I got the phone to review from Huawei and so far I am impressed. It does a lot of things well compared to most other smartphones I have used this year. I will not dive deep into what it really does as I will get to that in the full review that will be up next week.

At the moment, you can get the Huawei Y9 2019 in Kenya in Sapphire blue (the one I have) and in black. I love the blue one, it looks different from what is out there and stands out no matter where you are.

If these two colours do not do it for you, there is a purple one out there that will be coming to Kenya soon. Huawei is calling this colours Aurora Purple and has a gradient purple and blue finish that is similar to the Huawei P20 Pro from earlier this year. I have to say this colour looks stunning and is the one I would have gone for if I did not have the Sapphire blue one.

The specs of the Aurora Purple are the same as with the other variants but I am still not sure about its price, it may be the same as the other models though. This Purple variant will be a Limited-Edition phone.

    Display Size: 6.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels

    Processor: Hisilicon Kirin 710

    RAM: 4 GB

Storage Space: 64 GB, can be expanded up to 400GB using a microSD card

    GPU: Mali-G51 MP4

    Android Version: Android 8.1 Oreo

    Connectivity: 2G/3G/4G

Camera: 13MP + 2 MP, Cameras at the back with a 16 MP + 2MP front facing ones

    Battery: 4000 mAh non-removable battery

Huawei is teasing this Purple variant using its social media pages and I will be keeping an eye on those pages and let you know when the phone is available in the country.

About a week ago, Huawei announced that during the pre-order period, over 2,000 Y9 2019 units were ordered. This shows that there is demand and I can only imagine how many they have sold so far.

Buy the Huawei Y9 2019 on Jumia.
