The Infinix Hot S3X is the latest device from the company to be launched in Kenya. You can call it the Infinix Hot Sex or Hot S3X, whichever you like.  The phone has been in retail stores for a few weeks now and I do have a unit to review. With that said, I thought I should do a first impressions post just to share with you what it has to offer.

Some of the key selling points of the Infinix Hot S3X include the 6.2 inch Full View display, AI selfie camera that guarantees better shots in low light conditions, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and the 4000 mAh battery.

The Infinix Hot S3X is available on InfinixMall and Jumia from Ksh 17,399.

    What Is In The Box?

In the box you get the following:

    The phone of course

Back cover and Screen protector for protection ?,  after all it is the Infinix Hot Sex and protection is a must

    Warranty Information and user guide

    Earphones

    USB cable and wall adapter

    SIM ejector tool

    Infinix Hot S3X First Impressions

When I first heard about the Infinix Hot S3X, I thought it was just another version of the Infinix S3. The Infinix S3 was available exclusively through Safaricom retail stores and I thought the S3X was the variant that will be available in other retail stores (non-Safaricom shops). The company says that the Hot S3X is not just a variant of the Hot S3 but is a different device altogether, I’ll leave it to you to determine how true that is.

    Infinix Hot S3X back

Taking the Infinix Hot S3X out of the box, the first thing I noticed is how smooth and slippery the back is. I will definitely have to use the free back cover provided. The back is slightly curved and this is to ensure the phone is comfortable to hold and carry around. Still on the back, it is made of plastic and is a fingerprint magnet, if you never like having fingerprint marks on your phone, just know that you will need something to wipe them every so often.

At the back is also where we get the dual camera setup with LED flash and the fingerprint scanner. The dual camera set up at the back is made up of a 13MP and a 2MP cameras. The quality of photos I got from these cameras is good and the portrait shots are impressive.

Flipping the phone, you get to see the 6.2-inch display with the notch. It is 2018 and if you really hate the notch, you are out of luck unless you are willing to spend a lot more on devices such as the Galaxy S9, Note 9 and the OPPO Find X.  You will not miss the notch of the Hot S3X, it is pronounced and looks out of place and there is no way to hide it. If notches really bother you, this is not the phone to get.

With the Infinix Hot S3X, the company has not used a USB Type C port and we just get the micro USB port we are used too. This is placed at the bottom next to the speaker. Nothing new has been added to the exterior with the power and volume keys being within reach on the right side of the phone.

Back to the display, this is a 6.2 inch one with a resolution of 720 x 1500 pixels. It is a very bright display and is responsive. The notch is just the annoying part of the display so far. The navigation keys at the bottom of the display can be hidden with just one tap. This is needed when you are playing a game and do not want them on the screen.

Performance of the Infinix Hot S3X is great. It does come with the old Snapdragon 430 processor but it does the job well. I will keep pushing it to see how far it goes and share that with you in the full review. I like how Infinix is changing things a bit and using Snapdragon processors and not the MediaTek ones we are used to seeing from the company.

The Hot S3X comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and comes with 3GB of RAM. This has served me well so far but I sort of expected this considering the fact that the phone is still new.

I will be using the phone for the next one week or so and have the full review then.
