Twitter For Android Gets a Night Mode Feature

Twitter App

Twitter App

Late last month, we told you about Twitter’s plans to include a ‘dark theme’ that will make it easier to use its app in the evening or at night when it gets dark outside. Back then, the feature was still being tested and was only available to a few users who were using Twitter for Android beta app and the company did not confirm nor deny its existence.

Fast forward one month later and the feature is available to all those Twitter for Android. The feature has just started rolling out today and may take time before everyone gets it. You should check out for an update right now if you don’t have the feature on your app. I have been lucky to get the update and below is a look at Twitter for Android with Night mode activated. I do use Twitter for Android beta version so am not sure if this feature is available to beta users or to all users.

The one thing that am not happy about Night Mode for Android is there is no way to set it to activate and deactivate automatically at certain times. I think this would have a cool trick as I wouldn’t be forced to toggle it on and off every now and then. Even without the automatic setting, I think it is a good start for Twitter and am confident they will introduce the automatic on and off feature as time goes by.

As mentioned above, this feature is only available on Twitter for Android at the moment so if you have an iOS device you may have to wait a bit longer. Twitter hasn’t officially announced the availability of this feature so we can’t speculate as to when it will be available on the other platforms.

If you have the latest version of Twitter for Android, check if it is available for you by swiping from the left of the screen to the right when Twitter is running. This will bring up your account settings page from where the Night mode on and off switch is located just above the settings option. If you don’t have it yet, be patient, it will be available to you soon.
