Yesterday, Xiaomi officially unveiled the Redmi 3s smartphone which is an updated version of the Redmi 3 which was launched back in January this year. The new Redmi 3s is a lot similar when compared to the original Redmi 3 with a few improvements here and there. This is not the first variant of the Redmi 3 as the company unveiled the Redmi 3 Pro a few months ago.

Some of the improvements of the Redmi 3s include the Octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor which is better than the Snapdragon 616 processor found on the standard Redmi 3. The Redmi 3s also comes with a fingerprint reader for extra security.

The Redmi 3s has a metallic body that gives it a polished look. As for most of the specs, Xiaomi has decided to keep the same ones found on the original Redmi 3. Starting with the display, the Redmi 3s uses the same 5 inch display with a 720p resolution. As mentioned above, it is powered by the Snapdragon 430 processor paired with either 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage space. The 2GB RAM/16GB ROM model is available for (approximately Ksh 11,000) while the 3GB variant is available for $136 (approximately Ksh 14,000).

For connectivity, the Redmi 3s supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS + GLONASS. The Redmi 3s comes with a 13MP main camera with LED flash and auto focus. The front facing camera on the other hand is a 5MP one.

Ensuring the phone stays on is a 4100 mAh battery that can last you throughout the whole day without any issues.

The Redmi 3s will be available in retail stores in China as from June 16.
