The Samsung Z1 and Z3 are the two smartphones from the company that run on Tizen OS and not Android and they are available in select markets in Asia. These devices were launched last year and went ahead to sell quite well and better than what most people had expected.

With the success of the Samsung Z1, the company is currently working on its successor that it will be unveiling later this year. Am pretty sure the successor of the Z1 will be available in the same markets where both the Z1 and Z3 are available. Samsung may try to expand to other developing and emerging markets.

We know nothing about the 2016 variant of Samsung Z1 and all there is out there is that it is expected to have an AMOLED display similar to the one available on the Samsung Z3. That is all we know at the moment but we will know more before this smartphone if officially launched. Probably it will have slightly updated pecs when compared to the Samsung Z1 but my guess is that they might not be as good as those of the Samsung Z3.

Besides the successor to the Z1, Samsung is also believed to be working on the Samsung Z5 which will probably be the successor to the Samsung Z3. Samsung promised to put in more effort into Tizen last year but that never happened so I will be watching out for that this year. Tizen has the space to grow especially in developing markets as long as App developers support it.
