Oppo is getting ready to unveil its second high end smartphone of 2016. The first one was the Oppo F1 which was launched in mid January. This second one will be the Oppo R9 which the company has teased but did not say much about. This new phone will be taking over from the Oppo R7 that was launched last year.

Oppo is already running ads in its home country of China announcing the coming of the R9. Since this information is coming from the company, we believe everything about it. The only thing the ad does not reveal are the specifications of the phone.

The ads point out that Oppo has an event scheduled for March 17 where the company will be unveiling a new smartphone which has a 9 in its name. This clearly indicated that it will be the Oppo R9.

The Oppo R9 is expected to come with some high end specifications unlike its predecessors. It will be the company’s top camera phone and this means that it will come with some high end camera units both at the front and back. It will also have support for the Super VOOC fast charging feature the company unveiled recently.

Some of the other features we expect to see on the Oppo R9 include a 6 inch QHD display. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor with either 3 or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card.

At the back, the Oppo R9 is expected to have a 21MP camera with a 13MP unit in front. For the battery, it will have a 3,700 mAh battery unit at the back.

Keep it here to be informed when the phone is launched.
