Facebook’s emoji “Reactions” Is Now Available to All Users On Web and Mobile

Facebook has been testing its new like button for a while to give users more options to express themselves. This new button brings with it five new emoji reactions in addition to the existing thumbs up (like) icon. This feature has finally rolled out to all users globally on both mobile and the web.

Facebook announced this yesterday through a blogpost saying the feature is now live but will take some time before every user can access it. I haven’t had a chance to test it yet as of writing this and it seems that it is not yet available in this region.

“We understand that this is a big change, and want to be thoughtful about rolling this out. For more than a year we have been conducting global research including focus groups and surveys to determine what types of reactions people would want to use most. We also looked at how people are already commenting on posts and the top stickers and emoticons as signals for the types of reactions people are already using to determine which reactions to offer,” the company said in a statement.

Using this feature is pretty easy according to Facebook. All you have to do is long press the like button when on mobile and the different options will pop up and you can choose the one appropriate for the situation with a quick tap. When on a PC, all you need to do is hover the mouse over the like button and the different options will pop up for you to choose one. Some of the options that you can choose include Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry.

The company is still looking for new ways to improve this feature and concluded by saying, “We will continue learning and listening to feedback to make sure we have a set of reactions that will be useful for everyone. We hope you enjoy the new Reactions!”
