The latest Lumia smartphones, the Lumia 950 and 950XL, will be launched in Kenya anytime from next month (February). This information comes from a well-placed source who informed me that these are just the two main devices that Microsoft may focus on during the launch. The low end Lumia 550 may also be announced at the same event.

These three are the most recent Lumia devices launched late last year and have been available in most international markets but we haven’t seen them in Kenya yet.

The Lumia 950XL is the premium of them all and comes with a 5.7 inch Quad HD AMOLED display and is powered by a 2GHz octa-core snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage space. This phone also has liquid cooling technology to make sure it doesn’t get very hot as you use it.

As for the camera, the Lumia 950XL will have a 20MP PureView one with triple-LED flash on the back and a 5MP one in front. Still at the back, there is a 3340 mAh battery that supports Qi wireless charging and fast charging.

    Lumia 950

As for the Lumia 950, it comes with a 5.2-inch OLED display with a quad HD resolution. It will be powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 32GB of internal storage space. It also has a 20MP rear facing camera with triple LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. For the battery, it has a 3000mAh unit at the back.

    Lumia 550

The Lumia 550 is the most affordable one here and comes with a 4.7 inch display with a 720p resolution. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor used in combination with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space.

For the camera, the Lumia 550 comes with a 5MP camera at the back with a 2MP front facing one. This phone comes with a 2100 mAh battery.

    Price and availability

We currently don’t have the respective prices of these devices and all we know that they will be launched sometime next month. This information is very credible even though it comes from a reliable source and so is not officially from the company. We will inform you on this as we get more information directly from the company’s communication sources.
