Back in October, Twitter polls rolled out allowing users of the site to ask their followers questions to see where they stand on anything they see fit. When Twitter first rolled out these, there are people who took to the social site to express their disappointment with this and they even said that it will not be successful.
Fast forward 3 months later and Twitter polls seem to be quite popular as the site has reported that over 1.7 billion votes have been cast. The company revealed this through its own site saying, “Thanks for weighing in! Yours is one of 1.7 billion votes cast in Twitter Polls since October’s launch.”

Twitter went ahead to reveal that users can now adjusts how long their polls can run. “Now you can adjust how long your Twitter Polls run!” the company said.

Before this, polls could only run for 24 hours only and this was not that convenient for some people as some. With this new move, you can adjust how long or short your polls run depending on your end goal. The longest you can have your polls run for is 7 days which makes sense and can get as many people participating as possible. Below is a screenshot showing how you can set the duration of your Twitter poll.
Ever since Twitter polls were launched, you may have seen many people using it but we are yet to see many brands trying it. Of course this will take time before it happens but am very sure it will happen this year. It will be interesting to see if this will help driving conversation or it will be one of those features people use when they have nothing else to do. Personally I have not used Twitter polls but I might try it very soon.
