Xiaomi unveils the Redmi Note Prime with 2GB of RAM and 3,100 mAh battery

Today, Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note Prime smartphone that comes with some decent specs and a reasonable price. This is the second smartphone from Xiaomi that has been manufactured in India, the first one was the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime that was unveiled a while back.

As for the specs, the Redmi Note Prime clearly does not disappoint. It comes with a massive 5.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 processor combined with 2GB of RAM. As for storage, it comes with 16GB of space that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime has a 13MP camera unit at the back with a 5MP one in front. The rear camera has both LED flash and auto focus.

The 3100mAh high-capacity battery, coupled with MIUI optimizations, has enabled Redmi Note Prime to achieve the most impressive battery performance yet. Local manufacturing shows Xiaomi’s commitment to being a part of fabric of India and we are truly excited to roll out our second ‘Made in India’ offering for our Mi fans.”

The phone comes with Android 4.4 KitKat-based MIUI 7 and supports dual SIM capabilities.

As for price, it is retailing at around $125 (approximately Ksh 13,000).
