With the new iPhones, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, out in the market, attention now shifts to the next iPhones to be unveiled next year. Even though Apple is usually secretive, we expect to get some hints here and there that may give us clues as to some of the features the company will be including on its next iPhone.
A new report surfaced a few days ago indicating that Intel will be supplying Apple with the 7360 LTE modem chips to be used on the iPhone 7. The current iPhones are using Qualcomm’s 9X45 LTE chip. No word as to why Apple will be making this shift but we may know more about that in future.
Intel Is Investing Heavily
It is reported that Intel is assigning quite a number of employees to this project so it is not a small thing for them. The company has been trying to dominate the mobile phone market as it has the laptop and PC market with no luck. This latest move may just help the situation out.
As other manufacturers see what Apple has done, they will probably want to ty it too and this is good news for Intel. One person close to this has even described the current situation as “a must win for Intel” so you know it is a big deal.
Apple is also said to have it engineers looking at the 7360 LTE chip and help optimize it for the iPhone 7. Before the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, there was information that Apple had plans to use this chip on them but as you know by now, that did not happen.
