Apple announced the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus a few weeks ago and the phones went on sale late last week. These phones seem to be attractive to iOS fans as the company managed to sell over 13 Million units in just three days. You can read more about that through the link below.

When announcing the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus, Apple did not mention anything to do with water resistance and so no one looked into that. It now seems that the new iPhone are actually water resistant if a video published online last week is anything to go by.

The video published last Friday by a YouTuber, Zach Straley, shows him submerging both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus underwater for over 1 hour with no adverse effects. After one hour, everything appears to work fine which was not something I expected given the fact that Apple did not say anything about water resistance when unveiling the new iPhones.

Straley went ahead to confirm through his Twitter account that even the Headphone socket and Lightening Ports were working perfectly after that.

No Official Confirmation

Since there was no official confirmation from Apple, you may not want to submerge your new iPhone under water for now. Back in March, Apple patented a waterproofing technology that protects all the important internal components using a thin hydrophobic coating. This could be the technology that Apple is using on the new iPhones.
