Google and Yahoo Are Also Interested In Buying Flipboard

Flipboard

Flipboard

On Tuesday this week, I told you about Twitter’s interest in buying Flipboard. According to reports, Twitter is willing to pay upwards of $1 billion to acquire Flipboard. This is quite a significant amount but it is being reported that the talks between the two companies have stalled for now. It is not clear why the talks have stalled but it may have to do with the interest Flipboard has got from other companies.

We are now hearing that Google and Yahoo are also interested in buying Flipboard. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that separate talks between Google, Flipboard and Yahoo have already taken place. The report did not reveal what either Yahoo or Google was willing to pay to acquire Flipboard but my guess is that they might pay somewhere close to $1 billion or even higher.

Both Google and Yahoo are massive search engines and are interested in how they can integrate Flipboard with their services. Since Flipboard acts like a news aggregator, it might work very well with either search engine.

Flipboard is not massively profitable but the simple way that it works makes it very attractive to these companies. These three companies looking to buy it out are interested in that and want to use Flipboard’s engaging content to attract more users.

I will keep you informed on how things turn out.
