Google Play is a platform that many developers have come to appreciate over the years. It gives them the chance to create apps and show the world how good they are. For Google Play to be useful, both the developers and the users need to have positive experiences. This is why Google has just introduced two new updates to the store. These are,

  1. A global content rating system based on industry standards
  2. An app review process that better protects users

The global age-rating system and manual app review will increase the number of quality apps on the play store ensuring the user experience is better. Commenting on this, Google said,

We know that people in different countries have different ideas about what content is appropriate for kids, teens and adults, so today’s announcement will help developers better label their apps for the right audience. Consistent with industry best practices, this change will give developers an easy way to communicate familiar and locally relevant content ratings to their users and help improve app discovery and engagement by letting people choose content that is right for them.

This update will not affect developers that much as they will still be able to get submission requests approved or rejected “in a matter of hours.” Scrutinizing of apps to ensure they do not violate Google Play’s standards will take place much earlier in the process.
