Last week we told you about the upcoming update for the developer version of Windows Phone 8.1. This update has finally arrived and adds a few cool features to Windows Phone 8.1. Those who already have Windows Phone 8.1 developer version, you can get the update directly on your devices. For those who do not have Windows Phone 8.1, you can still get the update through Microsoft’s App Studio program.
Just like we told you last week, this is a GDR1 (General Distribution Release) update and has additional features relevant to both OEMs and end users.
One new feature added includes the Live folders for the start screen. Through this, users will be able to create folders by sliding one tile over another. With this update there is an option to merge multiple SMS messages together and either forward or delete them collectively.
There is also the option for users in India, Australia and Canada to use the alpha version of Cortana whereas users in the U.K and China will have their own versions of Cortana.
