African Banking Corporation (ABC Bank) has reduced its PesaLink transfer charges. The bank will now offer free transfers of up to KSh999 and a flat fee of KSh20 for transactions ranging from KSh1,000 to KSh999,999.

The revised pricing is part of the Tuma Direct na KSh20 campaign. This is an industry-wide initiative led by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL), which operates PesaLink, in collaboration with Kenyan banks.

ABC Bank customers can access PesaLink through the bank’s ABConnect mobile banking platform and internet banking services.

The bank said the pricing change forms part of a broader effort to encourage customers to use direct bank-to-bank transfers for everyday payments.

Speaking on the campaign, ABC Bank Managing Director Apollo Njoroge said, “By reducing our Pesalink charges, we are making real-time bank-to-bank transfers more affordable and convenient for our customers. We are also pleased to support the industry-wide ‘Tuma Direct na KSh20’ campaign, which is making it easier for Kenyans to move money directly between bank accounts at a simple and affordable cost.”

ABC Bank’s digital payments plans

ABC Bank said it is progressing several initiatives under its broader Mach 2 roadmap. The aim of this is to make account-to-account payments convenient for customers.

These include PesaLink ID, which is designed to allow customers to send money using identifiers such as a phone number or national ID rather than entering a bank account number. The roadmap also includes interoperable agent cash-in and cash-out services, alongside Lipa na Bank merchant payments.
