WIOCC Investment

WIOCC Group has secured a combined US$300 million investment from Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Vision International Investment Company (Vision Invest).

The investment will help support WIOCC’s plans to expand critical digital infrastructure across Africa.

The company currently operates in more than 30 African countries providing open-access connectivity infrastructure supporting businesses and digital service providers across the continent.

WIOCC said the new funding will accelerate data centre deployment and consolidation. It will also be used to expand its terrestrial fibre network and investment in new subsea cable assets.

Samaila Zubairu, President and CEO of AFC, said the investment would help expand the digital backbone needed by African businesses and communities.

“Fibre, data centres and subsea cables are now essential infrastructure for growth, innovation and AI.”

Chris Wood, Group CEO of WIOCC Group, said the investment would help the company execute its long-term growth strategy as demand for cloud, AI and digital services increases.

Omar N. Al-Midani, President and CEO of Vision Invest, said continued investment in connectivity and digital ecosystems will be critical as demand for digital services across Africa rises.

Joshua Smythwood, Group Chief Strategy and M&A Officer at WIOCC Group, added that the investment would strengthen the company’s financial position and support its next phase of growth.
