Airtel Money has today introduced Bizna Wallet, a new digital wallet designed for small businesses.
Bizna Wallet is Airtel Money’s equivalent of Safaricom’s M-PESA Pochi la Biashara, targeting Kenya’s micro and small businesses with a dedicated business wallet.
The new solution enables entrepreneurs to separate business income from personal finances while providing tools to track transactions, monitor cash flow and receive payments across mobile money networks.
The launch comes as digital payments are becoming more and more essential for Kenya’s small businesses. According to the Mastercard SME Confidence Index, 95% of SMEs in the country now accept mobile payments, indicating an increasing demand for financial services tailored to business needs.
Speaking during the launch, Airtel Money Kenya Acting Managing Director Michael Bonke said the product was developed to address the day-to-day financial management challenges faced by micro and small enterprises.
“Small businesses are at the heart of Kenya’s economy, yet many entrepreneurs still rely on personal wallets to manage business finances,” Bonke said. “Airtel Money Bizna Wallet enables business owners to separate business income from personal finances, monitor daily sales, access mini statements, receive payments across mobile money networks and protect business payments from unauthorized reversals.”
The wallet targets a broad range of informal and micro-businesses, including kiosk owners, market traders, boda boda riders, matatu operators and other small enterprises that rely heavily on mobile money for daily transactions.
Airtel Money also announced an expansion of its Rudishiwa rewards programme. The company is now offering 50% cashback on eligible transactions, including paybill payments, transfers to other mobile money networks, bank-to-wallet transfers, and wallet-to-bank transfers.
Unlike the previous airtime-based rewards, cashback will be credited as cash into a dedicated Cashback Wallet, allowing customers to transfer the funds into their main Airtel Money wallet and use them across Airtel Money services.
The cashback offer is available to all registered Airtel Money customers in Kenya on qualifying transactions of KES 101 and above. The feature is available to customers using both the My Airtel App and the *USSD 334# service.
