Safaricom Hook Circle Brings Digital Skills and Career Mentorship to Kiambu National Polytechnic

Safaricom Hook Circle Kiambu National Polytechnic

Students at Kiambu National Polytechnic took part in hands-on learning, career conversations, mentorship sessions and technology demonstrations through the Safaricom Hook Circle.

The two-day session exposed them to career pathways beyond traditional employment, including opportunities emerging at the intersection of technology, Agritech and entrepreneurship. Students explored how digital tools are transforming sectors, creating new forms of work and opening up income-generating opportunities.

The programme was delivered in partnership with DigiFarm, Power Learn Project, Advanced Mobility Center and other industry experts, bringing practical perspectives on digital learning, Agritech and the skills increasingly demanded in the workplace.

“By bringing industry closer to learning institutions, we can help students better understand the opportunities available to them and the skills they need to pursue those opportunities, whether through employment, entrepreneurship or continued learning,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

The engagement forms part of the Safaricom Hook Circle programme, launched in 2023 to connect young people with skills development, mentorship and opportunities relevant to a changing world of work. The programme has so far reached more than one million young people across Meru, Mombasa, Nairobi, Kakamega, Siaya and Nyeri counties.

As technology continues to shape industries and create new forms of work, the programme aims to give more young people access to the practical skills and industry exposure needed to make informed decisions about their futures.

Young Kenyans aged 10 to 24 can join the Safaricom Hook community by dialing *555# or through the Safaricom App.
