Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has today announced a new simplified pricing model for Pesalink transactions. Customers will pay a flat fee of KES 20 for transfers above KES 1,000. Transactions below KES 1,000 and below will be free.
Pesalink transactions have historically been priced in tiers depending on the transaction amount. DTB’s flat-fee model removes that complexity, offering customers a consistent cost regardless of how much money they send.
According to DTB, the new pricing is designed to align with evolving customer expectations around speed, convenience and affordability in digital banking.
“Customers today expect speed, simplicity and affordability in how they move money,” said Murali Natarajan, CEO and Managing Director of DTB Kenya. “With this new pricing, we are making instant bank-to-bank transfers more accessible, whether for small everyday transactions or larger payments.”
Back in March, GTBank also waived transaction fees on transactions below KES 1,000 and reduced the fees on transactions between KES 1,001 – 5,000 to KES 5. Transactions above KES 5,001 are charged at KES 20.
Pesalink is operated by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL) under the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) and allows real-time transfers between bank accounts across participating institutions.
DTB’s pricing update could further strengthen Pesalink’s position, particularly for everyday transactions where cost sensitivity plays a major role in user behavior.
By lowering the cost of instant transfers, DTB is effectively positioning bank accounts as a more practical option for daily payments and not just for large or occasional transactions.
The revised pricing is available across DTB’s channels from mobile banking, internet banking and branch networks.
