WaveX Becomes First Reseller for LINX Nairobi and Mombasa Internet Exchanges

WaveX and LINX partnerships

Kenyan internet service provider WaveX has joined the London Internet Exchange (LINX) as an official reseller partner for both LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa. This makes it the first company to resell services across the two internet exchange points in Kenya.

The partnership enables WaveX to provide other networks with access to LINX’s peering infrastructure without requiring them to have their own physical presence at the exchanges. This means regional internet service providers, cloud platforms and digital service providers can connect to LINX through WaveX to exchange internet traffic more efficiently.

Internet exchange points (IXPs) allow networks to connect directly and exchange traffic locally rather than routing data through international transit networks.

Peak traffic at LINX Nairobi reached 64.5 Gbps in 2025 according to the company. This ia a 289% growth compared to 2024.

LINX Mombasa on the other hand was launched in February 2025 and has already reached over 1 terabit of connected capacity within its first year of operation. This clearly shows the growing importance of Mombasa as a gateway for regional and international internet traffic.

Patrick Mbogo, Interconnection Specialist for Africa at LINX, said the partnership will make it easier for networks across East Africa to benefit from local peering opportunities.

“We’re delighted to welcome WaveX as a reseller partner for LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa. Their reputation for delivering high-speed, reliable connectivity in Kenya makes them an ideal partner for supporting the continued growth of our East African exchanges. Together, we’ll help even more networks benefit from the performance and economic advantages of local peering.”

WaveX CTO Cyrus Mbitao said the agreement aligns with the company’s focus on delivering high-performance internet services across Kenya.

“Joining LINX as a reseller partner represents an important milestone for WaveX. We remain focused on delivering high-quality internet experiences to our customers and enabling access to LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa aligns directly with that objective.”
