Muriuki has been with Cellulant for over a decade, joining the company as an implementation engineer when it was primarily focused on mobile banking. He has played a central role in building the infrastructure that has powered Cellulant’s evolution over the years into a full-scale payments platform operating in multiple African markets.

He was recently the Vice President of Software Engineering. At this position, he led the modernization of Cellulant’s Tingg platform into a cloud-native microservices architecture. That transformation significantly improved transaction throughput and platform reliability, enabling Tingg to scale from about 1 million to 4.5 million transactions per day in 2025 alone.

Announcing the appointment, Cellulant CEO Peter O’Toole said Muriuki’s leadership has been instrumental in building scalable, customer-centric solutions and supporting the company’s journey to profitability.

In his new role, Muriuki will oversee Cellulant’s product portfolio, technology foundation, and the development of AI, data, and insights capabilities — as the company deepens its push into enterprise payments and automation.

“I’m excited to work with our product and technology teams to keep raising the bar as we scale our platforms and serve customers across the continent,” Muriuki said.
