LG Electronics Showcases “Affectionate Intelligence” at CES 2026

LG Affectionate Intelligence

LG Affectionate Intelligence

At CES 2026 (January 6 – 9), LG Electronics (LG) set out to move the conversation on artificial intelligence towards lived experience. Under the banner “Innovation in tune with you,” the company’s Las Vegas, USA, exhibit was organised as a series of connected environments spanning the home, mobility and entertainment. Together, they illustrated LG’s concept of “Affectionate Intelligence” involving systems designed to sense context and respond in ways intended to feel intuitive rather than intrusive.

The underlying message was that LG does not see AI as a feature contained within individual products, but as a layer that moves fluidly across spaces. Kitchens, living rooms, vehicles and entertainment zones were presented as parts of a single ecosystem, in which televisions, appliances, software, robots and sensors quietly coordinated in the background.

A visual overture — and the return of an icon

The showcase began with the “In Tune Monument”, a large-scale installation composed of 38 LG OLED evo W6 “True Wireless Wallpaper” TVs, arranged to appear as though suspended in mid-air and synchronised into a single visual surface. Measuring just nine millimetres at its thinnest point, the display marked the return of LG’s Wallpaper TV concept, first introduced in 2017, now updated with wireless connectivity and the company’s latest Hyper Radiant Color Technology. The installation showed that advanced engineering and embedded intelligence can coexist within a single experience.

Seamless viewing

That philosophy continued in the “Viewing in Tune” zone, where Wallpaper TVs blended directly into architectural surfaces. Powered by LG’s new α (Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen3, the displays delivered reflection-free images with a depth more akin to a window than a screen.

Projection mapping extended visuals beyond the physical boundaries of the displays, while a kinetic, Goldberg-style installation illustrated how the webOS platform adapts to individual viewing habits, positioning the television as a personalised medium.

The responsive road

In the “Ride in Tune” zone, LG turned its attention to mobility, reimagining the vehicle as an intelligent partner rather than a passive machine.

An AI-powered windshield overlaid real-world driving with augmented-reality visuals, transforming tunnels into forested landscapes and open roads into drifting cherry-blossom scenes. In-cabin vision systems monitored driver fatigue, seamlessly transitioning to autonomous driving when required, while transparent rear-window displays kept passengers visually connected to their surroundings.

Immersive entertainment

Meanwhile “Entertainment in Tune” focused on total immersion. A space inspired by Elden Ring, developed in collaboration with the Reddit community, extended sound and visuals well beyond the screen, while a panoramic racing cockpit constructed from three curved UltraGear OLED monitors drew long queues.

Through xboom Studio, multi-platinum artist and technology entrepreneur will.i.am hosted live broadcasts, while visitors explored AI-driven DJ personas and curated music streams, framing entertainment as interactive and adaptive rather than linear.

Toward the zero-labour home

The Living in Tune zone offered a glimpse of what LG describes as the “Zero Labor Home”, a domestic environment in which routine tasks recede into the background.

At its centre was LG CLOiD, a home-specialised AI robot equipped with autonomous mobility and two articulated arms. Navigating a functioning kitchen and living space, CLOiD adapted to different household scenarios, including assisting a busy family at breakfast, supporting a single professional with chores and providing ambient care for an older resident.

Powered by the LG ThinQ platform, the system demonstrated how appliances, sensors and AI services could anticipate needs and prevent problems without relying on constant voice commands.

Design meets intelligence

“Mastery in Tune” marked the 10th anniversary of LG SIGNATURE, presenting living spaces where high-end design and embedded intelligence converge. The centrepiece was the transparent LG SIGNATURE OLED T, capable of shifting from clear glass to vivid display.

Surrounding it were intelligent appliances, including a refrigerator with conversational AI for food management and an oven with Gourmet AI that recognises ingredients and automatically selects cooking settings. A collaboration with Italian luxury furniture brand Poliform highlighted LG’s ambition to position advanced technology within the language of premium interiors.

Design for all

The exhibition concluded with “In Tune for Everyone”, reflecting LG’s “Design for All” philosophy. Small but considered interventions, such as high-contrast colour sheets to help visually impaired users locate robot vacuums, or washer handles designed to be opened with an arm rather than a hand, highlighted how accessibility can be integrated without compromising aesthetics.

Many of these ideas stemmed from the LG Comfort Kit, a collection of accessories aimed at making everyday appliances more inclusive.
