Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft’s Country General Manager for Kenya, has announced that she will be stepping away from her role this February.

In a LinkedIn post shared this week, She confirmed that she will be transitioning into a new chapter, while inviting applications for the role she will soon vacate.

“It has been a profound honor to lead this work, but the time has come for me to pass the baton,” Migwi wrote.

She emphasized that the work Microsoft is doing in Kenya and the region remains critical, noting that there is still significant untapped potential to scale impact across public and private sector institutions.

“The ‘why’ behind our work has never been clearer,” she said, adding that the next leader will need to be vision-led to sustain and amplify the momentum already in place.

According to her, the incoming Country General Manager will inherit a strong foundation and a team that is already delivering results.

“This team is winning, and winning big,” she noted, positioning the role as both a leadership opportunity and a chance to shape the future of digital adoption in Kenya and the broader region.

Before joining Microsoft, Migwi spent several years at IBM, where she served as Regional Hybrid Cloud and AI Leader for Africa Growth Markets. Across more than two decades in the technology sector, she has been closely involved in driving enterprise growth, cloud adoption and emerging technology strategies across African markets.

She holds an MBA from Hult International Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Migwi has not yet disclosed her next move.
