Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has officially announced the release of the 2025 KCSE examination results.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), 993,226 candidates sat for the 2025 KCSE examinations, compared to 962,512 candidates in 2024. Of these, 492,012 were male while 501,214 were female, making this the second year in a row that female candidates outnumbered male candidates. Overall, 50 per cent of the candidates were girls.
In terms of performance, 1,932 candidates (0.19%) obtained an overall mean grade of A (plain). This represents an improvement from 1,693 candidates (0.18%) in 2024.
270,715 candidates (27.18%) attained a mean grade of C+ and above,. This qualifies them for direct university entry. This is an improvement compared to 246,391 candidates (25.53%) in 2024. 72,000 of those who qualified for university entry were from day schools.
How to Check 2025 KCSE Results on the KNEC Portal
Candidates can access their results exclusively through the KNEC online portal.
- Visit the KNEC results portal: https://results.knec.ac.ke or go to the KNEC website and click on KCSE Results.
- Enter the candidate’s Index Number and at least one name.
- Accept the privacy and access notice.
- Submit the details to view the results.
Due to high traffic on results release day, the KNEC portal may be slow or temporarily inaccessible. Candidates and parents are advised to remain patient and try again later if the site does not load immediately.

KNEC has clarified that all results-related queries must be lodged through the heads of institutions within 30 days after the release of results. Any queries submitted after 30 days will attract a fee.
