Absa Bank Kenya has introduced two new customer service innovations to strengthen its national presence and increase access to banking services. The new Branch on the Move and Absa Service Pod models represent the bank’s latest effort to deliver convenient, advisory focused and inclusive banking across Kenya.
The launch comes as the bank continues a major network expansion drive that includes six new branches opened this year in Gilgil, Kawangware, Kisumu, Mtwapa, and Wajir. The expansion brings Absa’s total footprint to 91 branches and service centres.
What the New Service Models Offer
Branch on the Move
The Branch on the Move is a mobile, cashless banking truck designed to take banking directly to communities. It offers the following services:
- Instant debit card issuance.
- Digital onboarding during account opening.
- Real-time activation of various banking services.
- Extended service hours beyond traditional branch times.
According to Moses Muthui, Absa Bank Kenya’s Consumer Banking Director, the innovations reflect customer demand for greater convenience. He said that while digital banking continues to grow, physical branches remain important for trust, advisory, and deeper customer relationships.
“With each innovation, we are responding to our consumers’ needs on access to financial services, enhancing inclusion for all. Our growth in distribution channels this year is a stamp of our commitment to bring modern banking closer to communities across Kenya,” said Mr. Muthui.
The bank plans to deploy an additional seven mobile banking trucks in different regions and install more service pods in major malls across the country.
