Safaricom has partnered with Vivo Energy Kenya, the distributor of Shell products, to enhance Bundle Ya Deree. This is its recently launched digital productivity bundle designed for cab drivers. The collaboration introduces weekly fuel discounts at Shell stations, adding a new cost-saving layer to Safaricom’s growing ecosystem of digital services for mobility workers.

Bundle Ya Deree gives online taxi drivers access to essential digital tools including Uber, Bolt, Little, Faras and Yego driver apps, Google Maps, subsidized insurance, and voice and data packages. The new partnership adds a fuel discount of KES 2 per litre, available every Saturday at all Shell stations across the country.

Safaricom says the deal is aimed at reducing the operational costs of drivers while strengthening the digital infrastructure that powers Kenya’s fast-growing gig mobility economy. Fawzia Ali Kimathi, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, noted that the partnership blends connectivity, convenience, and savings, enabling drivers to work more efficiently in a market where digital platforms dominate the transport sector.

Bundle Ya Deree also covers safety and welfare features including subsidized insurance for accidents, illness, or loss of income. Safaricom is further extending support through its Safire Connect empowerment forums. This offers drivers financial literacy, entrepreneurship knowledge, and digital skills training.

From Vivo Energy Kenya’s side, the addition of Shell fuel discounts is positioned as everyday value for millions of motorists. Peter Murungi, Managing Director at Vivo Energy Kenya, said the initiative aligns with the company’s goal to make every visit to a Shell service station “more rewarding than ever.”

The partnership comes as Safaricom marks its 25th anniversary, with mobility-focused initiatives forming a key part of the company’s consumer engagement strategy. By combining fuel savings with digital tools, Safaricom is expanding Bundle Ya Deree from a telecom product into a broader digital ecosystem targeting gig-economy drivers.

With more than 340 Shell stations in its network, Vivo Energy brings national reach to Safaricom’s strategy. Boda riders can access the equivalent Ofa Ya Boda offer by dialing 5448#, while online cab drivers can join Bundle Ya Deree via 5446#.
