Many small and mid sized companies are realising that long-term resilience requires the adoption of digital tools that improve operations, strengthen customer engagement and improve financial stability.

Safaricom has become one of the key technology partners helping local businesses bridge these gaps. Through services such as fibre connectivity, cloud hosting, M-Pesa business tools and enterprise communication solutions, the company is shaping how organisations across sectors operate in a digital era. The stories of Skyward Airlines, Freight In Time and Nao Packaging Solutions demonstrate how Safaricom’s infrastructure and enterprise offerings are supporting real transformation in aviation, logistics and manufacturing.

    Aviation Using Safaricom Enterprise Solutions

Skyward Airlines started in 2013 with a single aircraft. The airline now operates 18 planes linking major towns and remote destinations across Kenya and East Africa. The rising fuel costs and unpredictable global supply chains have created operational pressure. As all this happens, technology has become a powerful buffer.

Skyward is using AI powered predictive analytics that help forecast demand, manage fuel usage and in maintenance planning. Safaricom’s cloud hosting services ensure secure data storage and operational continuity. The airline uses Safaricom to strengthen its communication infrastructure to reduce downtime and  coordination of its Wilson Airport and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport bases.

Logistics Companies Using Connectivity and Cloud for Stability

Freight In Time operates across East Africa and offers clearing, forwarding and cold chain distribution services. Some of the  issues that frequently disrupt logistics operations include policy changes, communication delays and customs clearance . The company realazed that it needed a good digital infrastructure if it was to scale and keep customers informed.

Safaricom provides internet connectivity across its Kenyan offices, enabling smoother client communication and faster response times. The company also migrated its email operations to Safaricom-hosted domain services. This change helped to reduce the problems caused by local outages. It also ensured that communication channels are always available.

Better connectivity has helped to improve cash management, accountability and overall operational efficiency. With the support of Safaricom’s enterprise services, Freight In Time is preparing for further regional expansion including its recent entry into the Ethiopian market.

Digital Payments for Growth for Startups

Nao Packaging Solutions which was founded by David Mbugua Maina in 2019 shows how technology can unlock opportunities for startups with limited capital.

M-Pesa tills improved payment processing and at the same time helped him build a transaction history. This later opened access to Fuliza ya Biashara and M-Shwari business loans. These gave him access to credit that he used to to increase stock and scale operations. Fibre connectivity made it easier for the company to promote products online, serve customers across regions and manage orders efficiently.

The company now employs 25 people and distributes eco friendly packaging materials across the country. Safaricom’s digital services have played an important role in improving productivity, supporting financial inclusion and enabling the company to compete in a growing market.

Safaricom’s enterprise products have become key enablers in this shift by giving businesses access to infrastructure that was previously out of reach for smaller companies.
