NCBA Investment Bank has introduced a new suite of Offshore Investment Solutions that aim to give Kenyan clients wider access to global financial markets and diversified wealth-building opportunities.
According to the Africa Wealth Report 2025, Kenya now ranks fifth among the wealthiest countries on the continent. The country has about 6,800 high net worth individuals. This group continues to seek more sophisticated investment products.
NCBA says the new offshore products have been developed to help clients navigate a global environment where macroeconomic uncertainty and fluctuations in local currencies can erode the value of savings held in shillings. The bank believes that offering structured international exposure is now a key part of prudent wealth management.
Speaking during the rollout, Muathi Kilonzo, Managing Director at NCBA Investment Bank, said “We’re utilising our global presence, market knowledge and expertise to create a solid offshore investment setup. Our goal is to ensure it meets all regulatory standards in various markets and truly connects with our clients’ needs, helping them invest their capital safely while aiming for reliable returns,”
What the offshore offering includes
NCBA has structured the solutions across multiple investor profiles, ranging from entry-level clients to sophisticated investors and ultra high net worth individuals.
Pooled Investment Funds
These are unit trusts and special funds denominated in United States dollars. The products include the NCBA Global Fixed Income Special Fund and the NCBA Global Equity Special Fund. The entry point is a minimum investment of USD 1,000.
Execution Mandates and Custody Services
NCBA offers an execution platform for buying and selling a wide range of offshore instruments for self-directed investors who prefer to take an active role. The bank also manages the administrative and custodial aspects of the investments. This allows clients to focus on market strategy.
Bespoke Segregated Portfolios
This is a customised service targeting ultra high net worth clients, family offices and institutions. These portfolios give investors direct access to global equities, bonds, and other opportunities across international markets.
This is perfect for investors looking for tailored asset allocation strategies and exposure to unique offshore opportunities.
NCBA notes that the investment products go beyond high net worth individuals. They also target:
- Corporates involved in international trade
- Diaspora clients who earn in foreign currency
- Individuals who want to diversify away from Kenya-centric risks
- Investors concerned about sovereign exposure and local market uncertainty
