Wingu Africa has introduced the Wingu Cloud Exchange platform in Tanzania as part of its plan to expand locally hosted cloud services across East Africa. The new platform is designed to give businesses a reliable and cost efficient alternative to offshore cloud services while keeping data within regional borders.
Wingu Cloud Exchange, also known as WCX, is positioned as a full service cloud environment that supports organisations that want predictable pricing, fast deployment and the ability to scale without major upfront investments. Wingu says the platform removes the uncertainty that comes with exchange rate fluctuations and offshore hosting requirements since it is priced in local currency and hosted regionally.
WCX brings together several core services. These include Wingu Compute for virtual machines and workloads, Wingu Kubernetes for container orchestration, Wingu Drive for storage and Wingu Security for data protection. The company says the platform integrates with existing on premise environments and can also complement major global cloud providers such as Azure and AWS. This gives organisations the option to run some workloads locally while keeping others in multicloud setups.
Nicholas Lodge, Co founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Wingu Africa, said the product was developed after customers asked for a simple and dependable cloud option that is delivered locally. He noted that WCX is structured to make cloud adoption easier by reducing complexity and ensuring organisations know exactly how much they will pay.
Erkan Satik, Director of Cloud Ecosystem and Alliances at Wingu Africa, said the new platform is an important milestone for the region because it broadens the choices available to enterprises. He added that customers can deploy applications faster, improve performance through local hosting, and scale whenever they need to.
Wingu Africa says the launch is part of a wider strategy to support sustainable digital growth across Africa. The company is investing in secure and interconnected infrastructure that matches regional data requirements and helps enterprises adopt cloud technology with confidence.
