Zuri Health has announced the launch of Petals, an AI-powered women’s health companion built to deliver private, real-time, and holistic support via WhatsApp.
The new platform combines artificial intelligence with human expertise to help women access credible health guidance instantly.
According to Zuri Health Founder and CEO Ikechukwu Anoke, Petals is designed to make trusted, judgment-free healthcare accessible to all women.
“Every woman deserves a Petal,” said Anoke. “By meeting women where they already are, we’re making credible health advice and expert support truly accessible to all.”
Co-founder Daisy Isiaho said the platform embodies Zuri Health’s mission to blend empathy with technology.
“Through AI, we deliver personalized, trustworthy information that helps women understand their bodies and make empowered health choices,” she said.
Unlike most chat-based health tools that rely solely on third-party models, Zuri Health says Petals is powered by a mix of smart technology and real human care.
“We’ve built an in-house AI framework that helps women get quick, reliable guidance on their health questions anytime, anywhere,” the company said in a statement to TechArena. “Behind Petals is a trusted network of real doctors, nurses, and licensed healthcare providers who step in for consultations, follow-ups, and personalized care.”
This hybrid model that combines automation with professional human support is designed to strike a balance between accessibility and clinical credibility, particularly in contexts where women may struggle to find trustworthy medical information online.
Since Petals operates on WhatsApp, data privacy is a central concern. Zuri Health says it uses the secure WhatsApp Business API and this ensures all chats are end-to-end encrypted.
“We adhere to strict data protection standards, including GDPR and Kenya’s Data Protection Act, to keep every user’s health information private and protected,” the company added.
By using WhatsApp, Zuri Health taps into one of Africa’s most widely used communication platforms. This allows women in both urban and rural areas to access healthcare guidance without installing new apps or worrying about storage limits.
Petals offers specialized guidance through four key life stages:
- ZuriGlow – For teens learning about their bodies and navigating puberty.
- ZuriBabez – For young women exploring contraception, relationships, and sexual health.
- ZuriMoms – For women managing family planning, pregnancy, and postpartum care.
- ZuriBloom – For women navigating perimenopause and menopause.
Eva Waruhiu Muchai, Vice President – Women’s Health at Zuri Health, said the tool was built with “authenticity and empathy.”
“Whether you’re getting your first period, navigating pregnancy, or embracing new hormonal seasons, Petals walks with you every step of the way,” she said.
Zuri Health has confirmed that Petals will expand to other messaging platforms and local languages as part of its mission to reach more women across Africa.“The Petals app is coming soon,” Zuri Health told TechArena. “Users can sign up at https://zuri.health/petals-by-zuri-health to be the first to know when it’s live.”
