Britam BetaLab Launches Regional Startup Challenge 2025

Beta-Lab

Britam BetaLab has announced the Regional Startup Challenge 2025.  Applications will close on September 30, 2025, so time is limited. This program aims to identify and scale some of East Africa’s most promising growth-stage startups. The initiative is open to legally registered companies in Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.

The challenge is seeking startups in Series B funding stages or beyond. The startups should have existing products and established revenue streams. They should also have been operational for at least two years.

Eligible solutions span fintech, insurtech, healthtech, agritech, consumer tech, and retail/supply chain. According to BetaLab, preference will go to businesses that strengthen the insurance and financial services value chain. These should be particularly in areas such as distribution, payments, data and AI, underwriting, health and agri-rails, retail and supply chains, and claims management.

Successful applicants will benefit from:

  • A Venture Development Bootcamp to refine scaling strategies.
  • A 60-day accelerator program with mentorship and collaboration opportunities within Britam’s business units.
  • Investor Demo Day exposing them to regional and international investors.
  • Technology credits to support technical development.

Selected companies will have opportunities to pilot solutions directly with Britam, access customers across multiple markets and receive integration and distribution support.
