The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G is one of the cheapest smartphones from the company to support Galaxy AI. This is quite impressive as Galaxy AI was initially launched exclusively for the flagship S series and it is good to see it available on affordable devices. This makes the AI tools available to a wider audience.
You can get the Galaxy A26 in Kenya for around Ksh 26,000.

The question you may be asking is, which Galaxy AI features actually work in real life on the A26 5G?
Circle to Search
This is one of the well-known Galaxy AI features and works quite well on the Galaxy A26 5G. To use it, you have to long-press the home button when on any screen or app and it will be activated. From here, all you have to do is draw a circle around anything on the screen, from an image, word or product. The Google search results will be pulled up instantly to help you identify what you just circled.
Having tested it, I have been impressed with how fast and accurate it is. You do need an internet connection, and it can be useful when you want to check product prices, identify landmarks, etc. This is a genuinely useful feature that I have found myself using a lot.
Object Eraser (Photo Editing)
We have all been there, you take a good photo only to find out you have an unwanted item/person in frame. You can retake the photo, but that is not always the case. This is where the Object eraser comes in. You just select the unwanted objects in your photos and the AI will clean them out.
This works well with simple backgrounds but struggles with busy ones. It is still quick for social media edits.
Live Translate (Calls & Texts)
With this, you can get real-time translations of voice calls and messaging in supported languages. For our case, English is what gets the best results as Kiswahili is limited. This works well with clear speech.
Chat Assist
This feature helps by suggesting alternative tones or rephrases of messages for clarity, professionalism or casual style. You will use this most for drafting emails, social media posts and save time while at it. Some suggestions may sound robotic so keep that in mind.
Transcript Assist
If you have recorded voice notes or meetings that you want transcribed, this is the feature for you. It works really well but for English, with accuracy dropping with very strong accents. I have not had any serious issues with this but a couple of words may not be transcribed correctly but nothing too serious.
This does boost productivity especially for business people or even students.
