    Safaricom Spark Accelerator Hosts Investor Day for First Cohort of Startups

    Last week, the Safaricom Spark Accelerator Program held an investor demo day where 9 startups from the inaugural cohort showcased their achievements while fostering connections with prospective investors. 

    The Investor Day is the final phase of the accelerator program and is aimed at enabling the startups raise funding from VCs. 

    “At Safaricom, we believe technology is a catalyst for change and solutions, and that’s why we incentivize and support innovative start-ups with the tools they need to reach the next level. With the Spark accelerator program, we are investing in our future leaders while contributing to significant societal change and economic growth,” said Safaricom CEO, Dr Peter Ndegwa.

    The 9 startups include:

    • Health X Africa – HealthX Africa offers digital healthcare services, including virtual consultations and prescription deliveries.
    • Vunapay – Agritech payment company that collects, manages, and makes payouts to farmers with the help of IoT technology.
    • BlackRhino VR – Extended reality agency that offers virtual reality, augmented reality, VFX, and animation services.
    • Twiva – An Influencer-powered Social Commerce platform where MSMEs Market and Sell goods and services through social media influencers/resellers. 
    • Chpter – AI-driven conversational commerce platform that enhances sales through social media.
    • Churpy – Fintech company that provides an integrated receivables management product.
    • Nobuk Africa – Payments reconciliation company enabling groups and collectives in Africa to collect, reconcile and organize records.
    • Faidi HR – Cloud payroll and HR platform for african businesses.
    • Chumz – Savings platform that is revolutionizing the savings culture in Africa.

    The Safaricom Spark Accelerator program is a partnership with Sumitomo Corporation and M-Pesa Africa that aims at accelerating early stage startups to grow and scale their businesses. Other partners include iHub who are the implementing partner and AWS, Vodacom and PwC as supporting partners.Safaricom, Sumitomo Corporation and M-Pesa Africa have opened applications for early-stage startups in technology, fintech, creative economy and those scaling SME productivity tools to join the second cohort will open on April 1st 2025 to 15th May 2025 on https://www.safaricom.co.ke/sparkaccelerator.
