    Top 5 Smartphones under Ksh 20,000 in Kenya in 2024

    We have seen a number of smartphones launch in Kenya this year. The price range varies but in this post, I will highlight the top 5 phones that you can get in Kenya in 2024 for under 20K. I will include a link where you can buy the phones where applicable.

    Xiaomi Redmi 13

    This is one of the latest smartphones to launch in Kenya. It was launched in late July and is available for right starting at Ksh 18,199 for the 8GB RAM model with 128GB of storage. You can also get it with 6GB of RAM for a little less. Have a look at its specifications below.

    • Display: 6.79-inch (1080 x 2460 pixels)
    • Rear Camera: 108MP + 2MP
    • Front Camera: 13MP
    • RAM: 6/8GB
    • Processor: Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra
    • Storage: 128/256GB (expandable) 
    • Battery Capacity: 5,030mAh, 33W charging
    • OS: Android 14, HyperOS

    The Infinix hot 40i

    The Infinix Hot 40 series was launched in December 2023 and is still a good phone series to recommend. One of the devices in this series that I will recommend is the Infinix Hot 40i that you can get in Kenya at the moment for Ksh 18,500. At this price, you will be getting 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as standard. Below are its other key specs.

    • Display: 6.56-inch (720 x 1612 pixels)
    • Rear Camera: 50MP + 0.08MP
    • Front Camera: 32MP
    • RAM: 8GB
    • Processor: Unisoc T606
    • Storage: 128/256GB (expandable) 
    • Battery Capacity: 5,000 mAh, 18W charging
    • OS: Android 13, XOS 13

    Samsung Galaxy A15

    The Samsung Galaxy A15 is yet another smartphone from late 2023 that will still compete well in 2024. This phone is available for Ksh 18,500 for the 6GB RAM model with 128GB of storage. There is a 4GB RAM model for cheaper.

    • Display: 6.5-inch (1080 x 2340 pixels), Super AMOLED
    • Rear Camera: 50MP + 2MP + 2MP
    • Front Camera: 13MP
    • RAM: 8GB
    • Processor: Mediatek Helio G99
    • Storage: 128/256GB (expandable) 
    • Battery Capacity: 5,000 mAh, 25W charging
    • OS: Android 14, One UI 6

    Itel P55

    The itel P55 is also a good phone for anyone looking for a device under 20K. It was unveiled earlier this year and you can get it in Kenya for as low as ksh 17,500 for one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This is one of the best itel smartphones you can get in Kenya at the moment.

    • Display: 6.6-inch (720 x 1612 pixels)
    • Rear Camera: 50MP + 0.08MP
    • Front Camera: 8MP
    • RAM: 8GB
    • Processor: Unisoc T606
    • Storage: 128/256GB (expandable)

    Realme C65

    For around Ksh 20,000 or slightly less, you can get the realme C65 which was launched in April. It does come with all the good specs you can expect on a 2024 smartphone and is worth checking out even though its price averages around 21K. If you find a good retailer, you can negotiate the price to 20K.
