OPPO recently unveiled the Reno 11 series as the successor to the Reno 10 series from last year. The Reno 11 Series builds on the camera of the Reno 10 series. When I reviewed the Reno 10- last year, the camera was one of its appealing features that made it stand out from competition.
With the Reno 11 series, I will be briefly highlighting the camera system of the Pro version just to give you an idea of what to expect and help you decide if this phone is worth your money.
The Reno 11 pro’s camera boasts the Portrait Expert Engine which promises to deliver dynamic, striking photos of people and incidental masterpieces in different lighting conditions.

HyperTone Imaging Engine
OPPO’s HyperTone Imaging Engine is what gives the Reno 11 Pro its camera capabilities. This technology has been around for about a year and we first saw it on the OPPO X6 Pro and the Find N3.This technology has been refined for the Reno 11 Pro representing a big leap in mobile photography. It works by merging multiple RAW images and using AI to denoise them to enhance clarity, color richness and dynamic range.
The OPPO Reno 11 Pro has a 50MP ultra-clear main camera with OIS with HyperTone Imaging Engine. This does a good job in capturing dynamic low-light shots, backlit subjects and stunning landscapes. Its fast f/1.8 aperture lens with a wide 24mm focal length helps capture detailed-shots.
Telephoto Camera
The 32MP, 2x telephoto camera on the Reno11 Pro has a 47 mm optical focal length and can capture very good portrait shots. The Sony IMX709 sensor improves sensitivity while reducing noise. Its advanced in-sensor zoom technology lets you zoom to 5x without losing quality.
The Reno11 Pro’s Portrait Expert Engine offers pro-grade portrait mode, facial recognition, Subject/Scene Separation, skin color protection and a number of other features. The Portrait Expert Engine adds DSLR-like Bokeh effect with options for natural, accurate, flattering, and adjustable soft-focus backgrounds. It has a 24mm/47mm focal length allowing you to choose to have portraits with wide scenes or focused subjects just like you would with professional portrait photography.
Selfies
The Reno11 Pro’s selfie camera is a 32MP one with AI Portrait Retouching. It lets users fine-tune selfies with key optimisations applied to lips and eyes. The front-camera optimisations can identify 296 facial parameters and this can help enhance specific features of the subject.
The front facing camera also allows users to shoot videos in 4K just like with the back camera. You can record 4K videos at up to 30fps making it decent enough for most people.
