Computers for Schools Kenya (CFSK) has joined forces with MaMa Doing Good and Huawei Kenya to kick start a digital literacy initiative aimed at empowering women in the Joyful Women Organization. This partnership seeks to bridge the digital divide by equipping women with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s digital world.
The beneficiaries of this initiative will further share their skills with other women in their groups.

At the core of this initiative is the Women Empowerment Program, a curriculum designed by CFSK to impart ICT skills ranging from basic IT to diploma-level training. The program is tailored to empower women with the ability to repair, maintain, and leverage digital technology, offering them an avenue to enhance and grow their businesses. Part of the training involves teaching the women how to operate the different digital social media platforms for marketing their products and services. It also teaches them how to stay safe online and not be victims of fraud.
The training, facilitated by experienced CFSK trainers, has been intensive, interactive, and informative. Covering vital aspects of digital literacy and safety, the program ensures that women not only understand the technology but also learn to use it securely and effectively.
Transforming Communities
The collaboration extends beyond empowering women within the Joyful Women Organization. As a part of their commitment, CFSK, MaMa Doing Good, and Huawei Kenya are providing free digital literacy training to the youth in Uasin Gishu. By providing women with digital literacy skills, the initiative is not only facilitating personal and professional growth but also contributing to the economic development and inclusivity of women.
In a statement, Huawei said, “This digital training aligns with the ongoing efforts of governments to digitise Government services and payments through the e-citizen platform, which eases access to services.”
