OPPO Kenya has today added three new devices to its portfolio in Kenya. The star of the show is the OPPO A78 that is available in retail stores for Ksh 35,000. Two other devices the company has announced include the OPPO A58 available in Kenya for Ksh 30,000 and OPPO A98 that is available in Kenya for Ksh 46,000. All these phones are available online through Jumia and offline through most smartphone retailers across the country.
A few weeks back we told you that OPPO was gearing to launch these three devices in Kenya. The A78 launched in Kenya is the 4G variant, there is a 5G variant powered by the Dimensity 700 chipset but it looks like we will not be getting that in Kenya.
The OPPO A78
The OPPO A78 comes with a 6.4 inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 680 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage space. You can expand the storage to up to 1TB using a microSD card.
The OPPO A78 runs on ColorOS 13.1 which is based on Android 13. At the system level, OPPO’s self-developed Dynamic Computing Engine uses parallel computing technology to optimize the scheduling and recovery of computing resources to boost overall speed and stability. On the A78, the Dynamic Computing Engine can increase app opening speeds by as much as 1.42%. It also helps to keep up to 19 apps running in the background at the same time without any noticeable lag.
For the cameras, the OPPO A78 has a 50MP main sensor at the back and a 2MP depth sensor.For selfies, the phone comes with an 8MP (F2.0) wide lens.
Ensuring the phone is always on is a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC charging. According to OPPO, this phone can fully from 0% in about 44 minutes. OPPO’s Battery Health Engine helps to extend the A78’s battery lifespan to as many as 1,600 charge and discharge cycles, which is enough to keep the battery working in a good condition for up to four years.
OPPO A58
Besides the A78, the OPPO A58 has also been launched in Kenya and you can see its key specifications below:

The new OPPO A series are currently available for purchase in Kenya for Ksh 29,999 for the OPPO A58, Ksh34,999 for the OPPO A78 and Ksh45,999 for the OPPO A98.
