Itel Mobile has announced the launch and availability of the S23 smartphone in Kenya. The itel S23 is available in retail stores in Kenya starting from Ksh 14,500, quite reasonable considering what packs under the hood. This is a 4G powered smartphone and in my opinion it’s the most exciting smartphone from the company this year.

You can get the itel S23 through Jumia and most offline phone retailers across the country.

The itel S23 is a standout device in the company’s portfolio. The white variant  has a color-changing back which is a first for itel. This is possible thanks to the photochromic layer on the rear. The back automatically changes colors from mystery white to dreamy pink  when exposed under sunlight or UV rays. This does give it a distinct look especially within its price segment.

    Itel S23 Specifications

The itel S23 comes with a 6.6 inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. We don’t see many smartphones with 90Hz displays within this price range and I have to say this is a nice touch. With this display, itel is promising crystal-clear visuals and smooth scrolling, no matter what you’re doing.

Powering the S23 is the Unisoc Tiger T606 processor that has been paired with 8GB of RAM. The RAM can be expanded by an additional 8GB (virtual RAM) using part of the ROM for that. As for storage, the phone comes with 128GB of storage space which is good enough for your photos, videos and apps. This combination promises stellar performance and you should expect a reliable experience especially when multitasking.

Your photography needs are not left behind too as the phone comes with a 50MP main sensor at the back and a 16MP front facing camera. This should help you capture detailed shots in varying lighting conditions. 50MP for the back camera is quite impressive for itel to incorporate and I would be interested to see how it performs.

Ensuring the phone stays on all the time is a 5000 mAh battery. This battery can easily last you an entire day on a single charge. The phone supports 10W charging in case the battery runs low.

Here is a summary of the specs:

    • A triple rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor
    • A 16MP front-facing camera
    • 8GB of RAM
    • 128GB of internal storage
    • A fingerprint sensor
    • A face unlock feature
    • Android 12 operating system
