LG Promotes Growth of Commercial Laundry Industry in Kenya Through Seminar and Technological

LG Electronics, in collaboration with Hotpoint, recently held its first commercial laundry seminar in Mombasa, Kenya. The event aimed to support the growth of smart laundromats in the country and empower entrepreneurs interested in the commercial laundry industry. With the rising demand for professional laundry services due to rapid urbanization, Kenya’s commercial laundry sector has become increasingly attractive to investors.

During the seminar, Mr. Dongwon Lee, the Managing Director of LG Electronics EA, highlighted the resilience and consistent growth of the commercial laundry industry. According to data from research firm SkyQuest, the global commercial laundry market is projected to reach USD 1.89 billion by 2030, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 3.4% between 2023 and 2030, up from USD 1.45 billion in 2022.

Mr. Lee emphasized the convenience and time-saving benefits offered by laundromats, which have led to their increased popularity among consumers. Investing in the commercial laundry sector allows entrepreneurs to meet the demands for convenience and quality while providing top-notch services. LG Electronics is dedicated to delivering advanced technical solutions perfectly tailored to meet the business needs of investors in the commercial laundry industry.

Entrepreneurs and investors attending the seminar had the opportunity to explore LG’s latest state-of-the-art commercial laundry range, which includes Smart Commercial washers in sizes 10.5Kg and 15Kg. These washers are equipped with modern technology, making it easy to handle large laundry batches. They are stackable for user convenience and feature powerful engines that operate quietly.

The LG commercial laundry equipment has a capacity of up to 10.5 Kg and 15 Kg, making it suitable for various sectors, including laundromats, hospitality, hospitals and care homes, multi-housing, schools and universities, and the public sector.

Hotpoint, in partnership with LG, has already witnessed the success of laundromats since its pilot project three years ago, resulting in the opening of over 100 laundromats in different parts of Nairobi. The projection for the next three years is that approximately 1000 new laundromats will open across the country, as they are not capital-intensive for investors, according to Mr. Ravi Kanani, Head of B2B and Air Conditioning Business at Hotpoint.

In terms of dryers, LG’s equipment is equipped with energy-saving features that enhance efficiency, elevate laundromat performance, and improve profitability. The dryers utilize high-temperature air to sanitize clothes by eliminating germs and bacteria.

LG’s laundromat technology also includes a digital smart app, enabling customers to remotely monitor the progress of their laundry and request pick-up or drop-off services. Shop operators can manage their businesses off-site in real-time, promptly address technical issues, and track their operations.

The seminar in Mombasa is part of LG Electronics EA’s commitment to expanding smart laundromats across Kenya and empowering entrepreneurs in the commercial laundry industry. Through strategic partnerships, LG has already contributed to the establishment of laundromats in various estates in Nairobi, including Langata, Buruburu, TRM, Waiyaki Way, and Hurlingham.
