Jambojet, Kenya’s leading low-cost airline, has hit a major milestone, flying over 1 million passengers in 2022. This marks a significant increase in passenger numbers from 2021, with the airline surpassing its target of 917 thousand passengers by 38%. To celebrate this achievement and thank its customers for their support, Jambojet is offering 1,000 tickets at a special price of Ksh 1,000.

Jambojet operates over 350 flights per week across 10 different routes, with seven from its primary hub in Nairobi and three from its secondary hub in Mombasa. In 2021, the airline flew 730 thousand passengers, and the increasing numbers over the past years indicate the growing popularity of low-cost flying among travelers.

The CEO of Jambojet, Karanja Ndegwa, attributed the airline’s success to its focus on customers and its agile and passionate workforce. He said that the airline conducts a customer satisfaction survey annually to gather feedback on the service and products offered by Jambojet. Based on the results, the airline takes action to improve its service and develop new products that customers find useful. For example, the Jambojet Rewards program was created as a result of customer feedback.

Jambojet, which launched in April 2014, has a fleet of seven brand new De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft and flew over 5.6 million passengers since its inception. The airline operates to 7 destinations from its hub in Nairobi and 3 routes from its secondary hub in Mombasa. The destinations include Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda (Diani), Lamu, and Goma in Eastern DRC. The airline also operates cargo services across all routes.

In July 2019, Jambojet became the only low-cost carrier in Kenya to be awarded the coveted IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA registration). This internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system assesses an airline’s safety, operational management and control systems. In 2018, Jambojet was ranked as the top airline in Africa with the youngest fleet by global aviation intelligence provider ch-aviation. Additionally, in 2018 and 2019, the airline won the De Havilland Canada Reliability Award for outstanding performance in dispatch reliability on the Dash 8-400 series in Africa and the Middle East.

Jambojet’s low-cost flights have enabled affordable air travel for all, with first-time flyers accounting for about 30% of its customers. The airline’s continued growth in passenger numbers over the past years is a testament to the success of its low-cost model and the value it provides to its customers. The special offer of 1,000 tickets at Ksh 1,000 is a great opportunity for customers to experience the airline’s services at an unbeatable price.
