The iTel S17 is one of the latest entry-level smartphones from the company to launch in Kenya. The phone is currently available in retail stores in the country for Ksh 8,700. This price is a bit on the higher side as we are used to seeing iTel smartphones sell for a bit less than this. The S17 is the successor to the itel S16 series that we saw back in 2020.
The iTel S17 is an Android Go smartphone as I expected. It does come with entry-level hardware and specifications. Since it is an Android Go phone, it does come with a tweaked version of Android that should run smoothly on devices with entry-level hardware.
The phone also comes with lite versions of some of the popular apps we are used to including Google Go, Gmail Go, Maps Go etc. These apps tend to be lenient on the resources and will thus not slow down the phone. You still get the same features but on apps that are not resource hungry.
