In a bid to get more people to use its platform, Netflix has introduced a free plan exclusive to those in Kenya. Through the Netflix Free Plan, users will be able to enjoy almost all of Netflix’s content on android mobile phones, without paying a subscription fee.

This free plan has kicked off today and it’s not clear if it will be a permanent option or if it will end at some point. For Netflix, they might be looking for ways to entice users with the free plan with the hope of upgrading them to a payment subscription if they end up getting hooked to their service.

“At Netflix, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the suspense of Blood & Water, the romance of Bridgerton, and the adventure of Army of the Dead. Now we’re giving audiences in Kenya the chance to experience these stories for themselves — completely free of charge, “ says Cathy Conk, Netflix’s Director of Product Innovation.

She adds, “If you’ve never watched Netflix before — this is a great way to experience our service. We hope it’s a great match and that many of the people who try our free plan love Netflix so much that over time they upgrade to a full, paid subscription so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well”

To enjoy the free plan, subscribers will be required to enter their email address, confirm they are 18 years or over and create a password. To enjoy our full catalogue on multiple devices, members will need to upgrade to one of our paid plans.
