The Tecno Spark 7p Unboxing and First Impressions

Tecno Spark 7p UNBOXING

Tecno Spark 7p UNBOXING

The Tecno Spark 7p is the latest in the Spark series to launch in Kenya. The Spark 7p is the successor to the Spark 5 that I reviewed last year. The Spark 5 was a good phone but I expected more from it as I felt like it was not that big of an upgrade when compared to the Spark 4 series.

The Tecno Spark 7p is available in Kenya for around Ksh 15,000 which is right where the Spark 5 series has been available for. This is a very competitive segment as there are a ton of other good smartphones to choose from.

I have the Tecno Spark 7p in for review and will have the full post up in a week or so. In the meantime, let us unbox this phone and see what it comes with.

Before we get to the unboxing, let us first look at the key specifications of the Tecno Spark 7P.

First Impressions

The Tecno Spark 7p feels like a solidly built phone when you take it out of the box for the first time. The phone feels quite different from its predecessor, the Spark 5 series. I used and reviewed the Spark 5 Pro late last year and I am curious to see what this new model has to offer.

The Phone has a plastic back cover which is available in different colour options of Alps Blue, Magnet Black, Spruce Green and Summer Mojito. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone and having used it, I can say it is easy to setup and use.

There is a triple camera module at the back. Tecno has gone with a design that makes the phone looks like pretty much most of the other smartphones we see these days. Nothing to complain here as it still looks good and that is what matters.

Flipping the phone to the display, we have a 6.8 inch one with a 720 x 1640 pixel resolution. This display still looks good even though it is just a 720p one and has a 90Hz refresh rate. 90Hz refresh rate at this price is something worth bragging about.

The front facing camera is housed in a waterdrop notch at the top centre section of the display. This is an 8MP selfie camera that takes some good shots.

At the bottom section of the phone is where we have the headphone jack, speaker grille, micro-USB port and microphone.

Powering the Tecno Spark 7p is Android 11 out of the box with HiOS 7.6. The software experience has been so good so far and is not that different from the previous versions of HiOS. I will be highlighting some of the improvements we get on HiOS 7.6 in the full review. One of the things I still don’t like is that Tecno bundles the Spark 7p with some bloatware which you will probably not need.

For the hardware, the Spark 7p is powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 processor that the company has paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage space. This processor has handled tasks smoothly so far. I have even played a few games and the phone has not had any trouble handling that.

The battery here is a 5,000 mAh one that has served me well so far. I will be using the phone for a while a share my full thoughts on this phone then.
