HMD Global has announced its latest entry level smartphone, the Nokia C1 Plus. The Nokia C1 Plus will join the Nokia C1 that the company unveiled last year and the Nokia C2 that we saw earlier this year. The C-series is the company’s entry level series which is perfect for a market such as Kenya.

The Nokia C1 Plus is a slightly improved version of the C1 and comes with the same 5.45 inch display we had on the C1. This is slightly smaller than the 5.7 inch display we had on the C2.

The Nokia C1 plus runs on Android 10 (Go Edition) and will be available before the end of the year for €69 (approximately Ksh 9,400). This phone supports 4G connectivity and HMD Global says this is the cheapest 4G Nokia smartphone it has released. This is still not the cheapest 4G smartphone you will be able to get in Kenya as we already have cheaper ones like the Neon devices from Safaricom.

The Nokia C1 Plus has a display resolution of 720 x 1440 which is not the highest resolution but is not too bad for its price. It has a 5MP rear camera with flash and a 5MP front facing camera.

Powering the C1 Plus is a 1.4GHz quad core processor that has been paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card.

As for the battery, the Nokia C1 Plus has a 2,500 mAh unit that should be enough for an entry level smartphone that is not very powerful.

The phone has just been announced and should be coming to Kenya at some point. I will update you on this when I get that information.
